Repair Risks

While our electronic repairs are undertaken with utmost care, it's essential to acknowledge inherent risks. Devices, especially those damaged by liquids, may have unpredictable issues. Circuit board components, subject to aging, may fail during repairs, potentially rendering the device unusable.

For devices with glued-on screens, like iPads, accessing internal components involves delicate prying. Although our team is highly skilled, there exists a minimal risk of screen cracking or breaking during this process.

Apple devices with Touch ID/Face ID may experience functionality issues post-repair. Though uncommon, the complexity of device conditions can contribute to unexpected challenges.

In the case of laptops and all-in-one computers, particularly older models MacBooks/iMacs, the integrated GPU may fail without warning. Certain brands, including HP, Dell, Toshiba, among others, may exhibit GPU-related problems, irrespective of the device's production year and model.

While we strive to minimize risks through our expertise, it's important to understand that electronic repairs inherently carry uncertainties, and outcomes can vary based on the device's condition and prior damage.

Estimates and Services Scope

While we make every effort to provide comprehensive estimates, we cannot guarantee absolute inclusivity or finality. Identifying all potential issues with a device can be challenging until some initial work is undertaken. Consequently, our estimates may evolve or adjust during the course of servicing.

Should our technicians find the need to update the estimate, we will promptly inform you before proceeding further. Your explicit approval is required for any changes before we initiate additional work. The initial estimate remains valid within the original scope of services, although we may advise if the initially proposed service becomes unnecessary or unlikely to resolve the issue.

Customers are responsible for actively seeking estimates. Upon receiving your device, we assume you authorize us to proceed with repair attempts, understanding that you have already sought estimates or quotes. It is imperative for customers to proactively reach out for a quote ahead of time if required, ensuring a clear understanding of anticipated costs.

Payment Options and Terms

We welcome all major credit and debit cards as payment methods for our repair services. Customers are responsible for understanding and adhering to our payment regulations.

Invoices operate on a 30-day payment terms basis. Dr. Phonez will issue multiple reminders to prompt payment. Failure to complete payment within the specified 30-day period may result in the device considered abandoned and being recycled. It is essential for customers to stay informed about their payment options and comply with our established rules.

Replacement Parts Protocol

Should a service necessitate replacement parts, we will communicate with you beforehand to discuss the requirements. This includes detailing the specific part needed, its essentiality, associated costs, and providing an estimated arrival time. Please note that our arrival estimate is a best guess and not a guaranteed time frame, considering shipping times beyond our control.

If you prefer to retain your device until the parts arrive, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the ordered parts' cost will be necessary. Dr. Phonez generally uses parts sourced by Dr. Phonez to ensure functionality and compatibility with your device. Parts not procured by Dr. Phonez are exempt from any warranty or guarantee unless provided by the part manufacturer.

By supplying your own parts, you acknowledge and agree that the work performed is not covered by the Dr. Phonez Limited Shop Warranty or any other explicit or implicit guarantees. Furthermore, you waive any liability claims for device damage resulting from faulty parts or other incompatibilities not sourced by Dr. Phonez.

Diagnostic and Attempt Fee

For devices undergoing motherboard repairs, data recovery, or those with prior repair attempts, a diagnostic and repair attempt fee is applicable. In cases where the repair is unsuccessful, data recovery is not feasible, or the device has a history of previous repair attempts, a fee ranging from $30 to $100 will be charged. This fee helps cover the time dedicated to assessing and working on your device.

Shipping Guidelines

Your provided shipping instructions, as indicated in the mail-in form, guide our shipping process. It is crucial to note that failing to request insurance makes the customer solely responsible for any shipping damages. Dr. Phonez bears no liability for damages incurred during shipping if insurance is not requested.

For devices not shipped in their original packaging, the risk of damage during shipping increases. If a device is sent in a generic box, it will be returned in a similar box, and the customer assumes any associated risks.

If you choose to provide your own shipping label, ensure it includes insurance if desired. Unfortunately, we cannot offer insurance for pre-purchased labels.

When placing an order, the order amount must equal or exceed the shipping cost. Orders with amounts less than the shipping cost may be canceled, and the customer will be promptly notified of the cancellation.

Data Integrity Disclaimer

While Dr. Phonez takes extensive precautions to preserve the integrity of your data, we cannot guarantee its security. We do not assume liability for any data loss resulting from services provided.

If a procedure poses a risk of data loss, we will inform you in advance, detailing the potential impact and offering data backup services at an additional cost. The intricate nature of electronic devices prevents us from predicting every outcome concerning your data.

It is strongly recommended to independently back up crucial files and documents before delivering or mailing your device for service. This proactive measure ensures the safeguarding of your valuable data.

Device Pickup and Abandonment Policy

In consideration of our limited storage capacity, we retain devices for up to 30 days post-notification for pickup. Should no communication occur within this period, we deem the device abandoned. Dr. Phonez reserves the right to sell the device to recover service costs and parts, or to recycle it if non-functional.

After the initial 30-day period, we cannot guarantee the preservation of your equipment. It is crucial to promptly retrieve your device or coordinate storage arrangements with Dr. Phonez. If pickup is scheduled beyond 30 days, a monthly storage fee of $25 may be applied. Ensure timely action to avoid any inconvenience or additional charges.
